Peacemakers Express Concern for Imprisoned Priest

Activists and friends of an 83-year-old Catholic priest imprisoned for an act of civil resistance are expressing some relief after prison officials responded to concerns he was facing unfair treatment in prison. The priest has not eaten since Jan. 10 to protest his placement in solitary confinement.  Jesuit Fr. Bill Bichsel was serving a three-month prison term   -MORE-

Three Y12 Resisters Finally Released

 

Thursday, January 6, 2012 marked the end of eight long months of imprisonment for Steve Baggarly, Mike Walli and Bonnie Urfer who have been released from prisons in Lisbon, Ohio; Morgantown, West Virginia; and Lexington, Kentucky.

Sister Claire O’Mara Dies in Hastings, NY

 

Sister Claire O’Mara died peacefully at Andrus on January 8, 2012. She was 89 years old and resided at Andrus on Hudson in Hastings, NY.

 

She entered the Ursulines in 1945 and made her final vows in 1951. Her Ursuline life of service extended beyond the United States to Mexico City, from 1954 to 1966, with  -MORE-
